Boxer Club of Canada Special Service Award

The Special Service Award is intended to recognize members that have made ‘Continuous Special Contributions to the Club’, been an ‘Ambassador for The Club and the Breed’ and shown ‘Commitment and Dedication’ over a span of years.

The Committee:

The committee shall be made up of volunteers, ‘ideally’ encompassing all of the regions (BC, Alberta, the Prairies, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes) when possible.  Members of the Committee may or may not be part of the Executive of the Club.

As with other committees any member may volunteer and should contact the existing committee before April 1st of any given year for the next year’s awards.  Any new committee members will be announced at the Annual General Meeting at which time their term of service begins.  The committee shall consist of three to six members at any given time.

The Committee members may nominate members they feel are deserving of the award but are not obligated to do so.  Nominations will also be accepted by the members at large.  Nominations from the members at large shall be sent to any member of the committee (The committee to be listed in the Members Only Section of the BCC website) who will pass the nominations on to the other members of the committee for discussion.  The committee will then decide by vote or mutual agreement.  A committee member may vote for more than one person if they feel it is warranted and if the rest of the committee agrees there could be more than one recipient.

Nominations must be sent to the committee by April 1st in the year the award is to be offered along with the reasons (suitable for use when announcing the recipient) for nominating that person (see Criteria below).  The committee will meet (or communicate) with each other to decide if there will be a recipient(s) that year and if so who it will be and will inform the Trophy Chairperson of their decision by May 1st of each year so that plaques can be made.  The Award will be announced and given out at the Awards Dinner following the annual General Meeting in June.

It is highly recommended that anyone nominating a member for this award not communicate that fact to that person or anyone other than the committee as there will only be one, possibly two recipients in any given year.  There may be several deserving members nominated so those names not chosen at that time will be retained and treated as already nominated for future consideration.

CRITERIA: These criteria shall be taken into account when nominating or voting on recipients for this award.

LENGTH OF SERVICE: In most cases recipients that will be considered for this award will have ten or more years of ‘service’, not ‘just’ membership, in the Club

AMBASSADORSHIP: The recipient shall have shown all of the following in their dealings with Club Members and non-members alike.

COMMITMENT: The recipient shall have shown all of the following during their service to the Club

SERVICE:  The recipient shall have contributed to the Club strongly and on a continuous basis in at least one or more of these areas.
