- From Feb meeting: : Application received from Monika Pinsker for the Renaissance Dog Association to hold a BCC National Specialty on April 14, 2018, in Chilliwack, BC. Please note that applications for the 2018 BCC National will be accepted until Feb. 29, 2016. From March meeting:
- Received application from the Alberta Boxer Club to host the 2018 BCC National Specialty on July 14, 2018, in conjunction with the Evelyn Kenny Kennel & Obedience Club All Breed Show. Sweepstakes, Obedience & Rally Obedience will also be offered.
- Cindy: Want to add that junior handling was also on the Alberta application.
- M&M: Was the Alberta one received before Feb 29? Just wondering why that was in there.
- Cindy: Yes it was received by Feb. 29th.
- Dave: Yes it was. The first time to post it was at the March meeting
- Dave: We will have a roll call as to whom you would like to have host the 2018 National.
- Put BC for British Columbia and AB for Alberta. Please vote now.
- Dave: The vote is overwhelmingly in favour of Alberta, Cindy please notify The Alberta Boxer Club of their successful bid
- The next topic is donations.
- To update the club in regards to donations this year. We are giving a total of $1000 . We will send $250 to Boxer Rescue Canada, $250 to Boxer Rescue Ontario and $500 to the American Boxer Charitable Foundation for Boxer related health research.
- Lillian: will the club be donating to junior handling?
- Dave: Not this year but we will be working on something to have as an annual award
Dave: Unless anyone has any new business to discuss I move this meeting adjourned.
- Christine: Is the audit results new business or part of the AGM?
- Rick: Is Holiday boxers Andre a member...he called me on the weekend stating bad health and looking for homes for some of his breeding stock. Can anyone help out, my house is full right now
- Mary: Andrea is a Life member
- Marta: Is he in ON, Rick?
- Rick: Quebec just outside Ottawa
- Christine: I don't want to tie up the meeting or delay the AGM but have a quick question. I checked By-law and Constitution and could not find an answer... For a boxer club that is recognized by the Boxer Club of Canada does one member of the club have to own a boxer
- Dave: Not that I know of Christine. Why do you ask?
- Mary: Membership form asks if they own any but does not say they have to. Sorry Christine did you mean in a Club does at least one have to be member?
- Christine: Just wondering given that Kilbride is under new management/ownership as is all of the clubs and the Boxer club of Central Ontario is run by non-boxer not in the same area of original operation
- Mary: Are there any BCC members still in BCCO?
- Christine: No
- Lillian: I would think the CKC should have some say in that
- Mary: If they wanted a regional or National there would have to be at least one BCCI member. Itisd on the applications for same I believe
- Christine: Anyway, as I said I don't want to tie up the meeting as the AGM could run late, just wondering as they now technically are in Northern area. Dave did they mention anything to you when you judged in March?
- Mary: How many clubs can be in the same area? There is already a Boxer Club in the Northern area
- Dave: As to the membership requirement there is a membership application in the works as I was contacted and asked what was involved to become a member.
- Dave: Is there any where that states that they have to live in the area or just maintain the area of operation laid out in the zone the club is operating in?
- Christine: Dave the area of operation is one area, the show is in another area and club management is in another area. Bottom line is all the BCC members in the original area of operation have no club they can attend
- Dave: I think we will have to check into this closer.
- Jack: If a member of the Boxer Club has been brought up before the discipline committee of the CKC and charged, not related to boxers does this affect thier membership in the Boxer club of Canada?
- Lillian: and found guilty
- Dave: I will check Jack, as our bylaws and constitution cover some items but not sure till I sit down and read it all.
- Jack: Found guilty of what they were charged with.
- Shirley: I believe a BCC member must be in good standing with the CKC
- Christine: I think you are correct Shirley
- MIke: Correct
- Dave: This will be dealt with away from tonight's meeting and will be referred to discipline committee.
Dave: I would like to make a motion to adjourn this meeting at which time we will take a ten minute break before we start the AGM.
Next regular meeting September 12th, 2016, 8 pm Ontario time
