Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday February 6, 2017
The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:03 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. – President: Dave Gilmour

Attendance ( 22 members): Jenny & Michael Catton, Jack Bujold, Patti & Dave Gilmour, Tammy Ranta, Doris Avery, Bernice Langley, Cindy Thomas, Melissa & Mark Mathers, Kristi Wagg, Lillian Wainwright, Mary Curl, Kim Long, Lee and Mary Jane, Paul and Judy Wilcox, Marta Nettelfield, Francine Gilanders, Deanne Sinnott Williams

Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.

Minutes:

Dave: I would like to call the meeting to order and if we can start with everyone typing in their names for attendance..

Everyone should of had lots of time to read last meetings minutes. Are there any errors or omissions?

Cindy: Nothing other than the Canadian All Breed IPO Working Dog Project Group which is under new business..

Old Business: Winner of the draw for members attending meetings for 2016 will be announced next meeting

New Business:

Dave: We have been contacted and asked if we would lend our name to a group putting together an IPO club in Canada which is a replacement for Schutzhund

We had posted info on the yahoo list as well as facebook

Mary: The following is copied from the log of the discussion

Lillian Wainwright	are theyintending to apply to be recognized as a CKC member club
Lillian Wainwright	and have they held the required trails for recognition
Cindy Thomas	They are looking for support from Breed National Clubs so they can approach CKC as well as FCI to become approved.
Dave Gilmour	Yes Mary
Cindy Thomas	They have to apply before holding any trials.
MaryCurl	So they would be like FCI?
Cindy Thomas	As far as I know yes.
MaryCurl	Cindy you may know more about them than the rest of us. What is your take on this?
Lillian Wainwright	General Meeting Room
MaryCurl	I do however like the idea of them selecting teams to compete in World Champonships. Kind of sounds like the Olympics
Cindy Thomas	My take on this is that they are just looking for support from National Breed Clubs so that they can become recognized by the FCI and hopefully CKC. It gives those who do any of the different events a chance to compete in Canada as well as at the Worlds.
Lillian Wainwright	what do we know about thepeople asking the club baclong
Cindy Thomas	I personally think it gives the breed more opportunity to do other events.
Lillian Wainwright	mean backing
Cindy Thomas	The fellow who I spoke to seems genuine Lillian. If the BCC doesn't want to support the group we do not have to. He will look to other Boxer Clubs to do so.
M&M Mathers	Sounds like a great opportunity to me. Would love to see more working boxers and this would give a venue for that.
Cindy Thomas	It is a good opportunity and it does not cost the club any money plus we have a seat on their board if we support the group.
Dave Gilmour	Yes Jenny
JennyCatton	do we have enough information to make a decision?
Cindy Thomas	We do need to make a decision as he needs to be able to move on quickly if the BCC doesn't not want to send a letter of support.
Lillian Wainwright	suggest the exec. contact other breed clubs for info and then make a decission
M&M Mathers	Why would we let other breeds make a decision for us? That seems odd to me.
Cindy Thomas	They have three National Breed Clubs who have already written letters of support for them and may have more now as there were others approached.
Lillian Wainwright	to see if they have bckground info
Cindy Thomas	All the background info was posted in the FB group and on the email list.
MaryCurl	If we decide to back them from what I read in his letters anyone with a Boxer that wants to get IPO titles would have to belong to the BCC. There is much more info in the letters
Lillian Wainwright	does anyone know the people
Kim long	I can't see any harm if all they are asking for is support and it adds avenue for us people that work our dogs
MaryCurl	tHIS IS FROM ONE OF THE LETTERS: Currently we have support letters from the Rottweiler Club of Canada, the Bouvier des Flandres Club of Canada and the Canadian Working Belgian Shepherd Association. We've had discussions with the Doberman Pinscher Club of Canada for the last month, and its executive will make a decision to whether they are on board or not in the next couple weeks.
Langley	I seam to be havingtrouble usingthe qustion mark to ask a question so here is myquestion. Wjy don't you have a quick vote here to see how this group to-night would like to do. It would be a new world for Boxers /
Cindy Thomas	It is a letter of support that this group is looking for only. We either say yes or no. If the membership is not on board then they will move onto another Boxer Club for support. The Boxer is a working breed and there are other performance avenues that some do versus CKC, AKC, etc. This gives those people a chance to compete in Canada and perhaps represent Canada at the Worlds. A good thing for our breed I believe.

MaryCurl	If the BCC is involved we would have more knowledge OF and perhaps a say in what goes on
Marta Nettelfield	This is like when the AKC was asked to accept boxers in the herding venue - who among the breed folks are in favor.
Marta Nettelfield	As Kim pointed out his opens up another venue for those of us who compete in performance events - something that should be encouraged.

Cindy: I would like to make a motion for the BCC to send a letter of support to the Canadian All Breed IPO Working Dog Project Group. I will make it easy and volunteer to be the board member should no one else want to do it.
