Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday February 5th, 2018

The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:00 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. –  President Dave Gilmour

Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.

Dave: Hello everyone, I would like to call this meeting to order. If everyone could message in with their name for attendance..

• Doris:
• We have received a new member application for Nikki Hunter from Surrey, BC.  Her sponsors, Karen Knox and Michelle Yeadon have been contacted  If anyone has any concerns, please let me know.
• We also have some new Honorary Life Members. Congratulations to Paul and Judy Wilcox and Patrice Longstreet!

Obedience Committee:  Marta Nettelfield 

• Marta: No report

Awards Committee: Mary, Shirley & Marta

• Mary: Reminder to all to please send info on your new titles etc.  to us at awards@boxerclubofcanada.com The task of looking all the titles for members has become very time consuming. It helps tremendously if members notify us so that I don't have to research through every month's files on the CKC site..
• Mary: I think that all members who are entitled to a plaque should have to contact us
• Marta: It should be the member's responsibility to apply for the awards/plaques
• Dave : Agreed. The awards committee has a big enough job researching the annual awards
• Mary: I propose that the Haviland Annual award for the Top Best of Breed Boxer be paid for by the BCC to acknowledge all that the Whitmores did for this club.
• Anne: That is a good idea Mary,
• Dave: The following Annual Awards are no longer sponsored by the originals.  We should either have the club donate them or     put them up to allow other members the opportunity to sponsor them.
• Warlene Trophy - Best Opposite Sex Boxer and The Donessle Trophy - Top kennel
• Paul: I think the Top Boxer Award should also be a Boxer Club member
• Dave: Thx for the input Paul
• Kim: I will sponsor the Warlene Trophy as Warren was a great mentor to me when he was here
• Mary: that is a good reason
• Dave: Thank you very much Kim.:  I assume Kim you would like to have your kennel name on the trophy
• Anne: I have Irene on the phone and her opinion is that the BOS Trophy and Top kennel trophy are not going to be paid for by the individuals who sponsored it then the name on the trophy should read Boxer club of Canada unless someone else wants to sponsor it
• Mary:  One that the BCC already covers is the The Scher-Khoun Trophy and it says:  donated by The Boxer Club of Canada in memory of Ben & Shirley deBoer For the Boxer sire producing the most Champions in Canada.
• Would that be OK with Irene for any others?
• Anne: yes, she says
• Mary: I would like to  take over the Top Kennel Trophy
• Dave: Great  to hear Mary
• Mary: Further to Awards etc.  :   We have a new Award (not annual)
• New Performance Awards: a) Versatility Boxer (VB), b) Versatility Boxer Excellent (VBX), c) Master Versatility Boxer (MVB)
• Criteria will be put on the BCC site soon"
• Thank you to Marta for her work on this and Cindy for her help
• Dave: Thank you very much ladies . we need to reward our wonderful breed for all the things they can do.
• Marta: I am hoping to have a presentation for the inaugural winners at this years National Specialty

Reading of General Correspondence:  Cindy Thomas

• Cindy: Received CKC event date approval letter and CKC judging panel approval letter for Bcc Regional Specialty Show on       August 18, 2018, in East St. Paul, MB.
• Received CKC event date approval letter for BCC National Specialty Show, Sweepstakes & Jr. Handling on July 14, 2018, in      Trochu, AB.
• I have a follow up under Old Business for the FCI IPO Championships.

Good & Welfare:  Lillian Wainwright

Old Business:  

• Cindy: FCI IPO World Championships follow up. I heard from Sherry Weiss, CKC Event Manager, and have confirmed the BCC's support. I have since received a letter that I will send to Mary to publish with the minutes.
• Dave: I just wanted to let everyone know that the matter of the ROE is still on hold till a new ROE committee is formed

New Business:

• Mary: This year up for nomination -  Vice President, Recording Secretary and Treasurer, Regional Directors
• Dave: We require three members to sit on the nomination committee.  Is there any volunteers ? If not the executive will be contacting members to join.
• Doris: I'll help out
• Francine: Dave I will help out, just let me know when
• Anne: I will help
• Dave: Thank you very much ladies we will be forwarding you the info
