Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday March 5th, 2018
The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:01 p.m. - on-line Moderator/Chair. – President Dave Gilmour
Attendance: (15 Members) Kim Long, Dave & Patti Gilmour, Michael Hockley, Christine Burton, Francine Gillanders, Cindy Thomas, Doris Avery, Marta Nettelfield, Mary Curl, Anne McDougall, Beverley Pope, Jenny & Mike Catton, Lillian Wainwright, Mellissa & Mark Mathers
Reminder: A quick reminder that there is a prize at the end of the year for everyone that has attended a meeting, served on the exec or a committee. You get one entry for every meeting attended, committee served on or exec position. They go into a hat at the end of the year and a name is drawn.
Minutes:
Dave: I would like to call this meeting to order and start by everyone typing their name for attendance.
Some people have not typed in their name yet for attendance -
* SECRETARY'S NOTE: There were some issues at this meeting where some members could not see others but when the log came in I believe it was complete*
- Dave: Everyone should of had a chance to read last months minutes. Is there any errors or omission?

- Lillian: I have requested from Kim billing for trophies I owe and have not rec'd them....

- Kim: Just received a new membership from Katharina (Kat) Hueggenberg. Will send information to Doris. Sponsors are Cindy Thomas and Kristen Sonnenberg

- Lillian: has the club the ability to use boxer items that people who are downsizing no longer have room for or need ??
- Anne: yes use them for fund raising

- Doris: Most of the previous positions are letting their names stand.

Reading of General Correspondence: Cindy Thomas
- Cindy: an App from Jenny Catton for BCC Regional with Oakville & Dist KC at Ancaster Sat Sept 8 2018 with Baby Puppy & Jr Handling
- Received judging panel approval letter from the CKC for the BCC National Specialty July 14, 2018, in Trochu, AB.
- Received request from Christine Burton for ODKC to hold a Booster on any one of the dates for Sept. 7, 8 & 9, 2018, at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Approved by the Executive.
Good & Welfare: Lillian Wainwright
- Lillian: Rod Norris is back home from a 21/ week stay in hospital, he is very weak.
Old Business:
- Dave: Is there any old business? - None
New Business:
- Mathers: I would like to bring up the current cases on docking in NS and NL. The 1st case in NS was successfully won based on banding being a common animal husbandry practise. The Human Society is now pressing to make it illegal. The 2nd case will be in court this month. Another breeder in NL has been charged. There is a GoFund me for legal costs for the NS cases and preparing for future cases. These breeders are "pet breeders ™" but fighting for the rights for ALL of us. Can we as a club of a breed that docks do anything to help support?
- Mary: What would be the best way to go about that
- Mathers: That I am not sure one, so thought maybe we could discuss.
I think even reaching out as a club as being supportive could be helpful. I could post the info on our group so members can become aware and help out if they can.
- Mary: Good idea Melissa..
If there was perhaps a specific lawyerthat was handling them a donation cold be made.
- Mathers: I can also reach out to other clubs like Dobes to see if we can combine efforts of some sort.
- Christine: Maybe a donation to the go fund me if the funds went directly to the lawyer
- Mathers: I can send the link...my understanding is it is to the lawyer or a way of doing it that way
- Dave: Both Mary and Christine have a good idea.
