Paul W: do you get more votes now that it is done on line or less than when it was done by snail mail?
Langley |
Times have changed, spare time is your most valuable asset. Making them attend so many meetings would put me off. Meetings on the computer are dull, you meet no members to speak to and ask questions. Mary you are from the old school, meetings were fun and talk was interesting. |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
that is what i said to a member the other day, her answer was she reads the minutes and supports the specialitys |
MaryCurl |
Yes Bernice but no longer possible as we are too spead out. |
Lillian Wainwright |
meetings were fun, and so were dog shows |
Langley |
I know, it's difficult to start travelling after you have worked all day. |
David Gilmour |
then do that once you are a member but make the effort to attend during the probationary period |
Anne McDougall |
if they are really interested in being members in more than name only , they could come to the shows to meet the members. |
MaryCurl |
They do have the option of having discussions in the room after the meetings are over. Not the same but still possible |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
it is a long drive Anne |
Anne McDougall |
I am talking about attending shows in your own area. I drove for 5 hours total to get the regional on the weekend, $100.00 for gas. |
Anne McDougall |
not to mention 5 hours back home |
Langley |
It's OK Anne, I spent $80 delivering your prizes. |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
they leave a show as soon as their class is done |
Anne McDougall |
there were members who live closer that did not attend , don't know what the answer is but if they can't be bothered to attend 3 on line meetings in a year then they aren't very interested |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
I agree |
Anne McDougall |
new members I mean |
Langley |
Remember this, Eve is the only old timer left and she cannot come to shows., We had |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
the old members do not attend either |
Langley |
Shirley deBoer who regaled us with stories/breeding and dogs in general |
Anne McDougall |
what amazes me is the number of Canadians that go to the American ABC but can't be bothered attend their own |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
its a status thing |
MaryCurl |
Paul - what do you consider old members |
Anne McDougall |
and I am not referring to the tried and true members |
Lillian Wainwright |
hey - i wont be travelling to the national out west |
Langley |
I would one of these y ears . |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
over 10 year members, Mary |
Lillian Wainwright |
ooops - yu mean the life members are ancient |
Langley |
Mary that puts hou in the ancient cataorgy, and I am a few years later than you |
MaryCurl |
I could name at least 15 to 20 of those who are Life members - over 25 years that still attend shows |
David Gilmour |
That puts a few of us in the old category |
Langley |
I like dog shows, even tho we don't have any now. Great outing . |
Lillian Wainwright |
u r only as young as u feel(act) |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
we are not quite lifers yet, but still run around the ring |
Langley |
As long as you can move, stay in the ring. |
Lillian Wainwright |
still showing..not running tho |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
you bet!! |
David Gilmour |
I would be at the national this year except for we have a wedding we can't get out of unfortunately |
Langley |
by the way is this meeting over. ?? |
David Gilmour |
not yet |
Paul & Judy Wilcox |
you won't miss much Dave |
Langley |
it's fun just chatting for a while, now when I go to a show and see a stranger to me I will ask who. |
David Gilmour |
I still like to go a see dogs and people I don't get to see that often |
Dave: Unless anyone else has anymore business I would like to adjourn this meeting
Jenny: 2nd
Meeting adjourned: 9:35 PM
Next Annual General Meeting: June 8th 2015, directly following the Regular June meeting unless the membership is notified otherwise.
Director Reports
Bev Pope – Manitoba
Manitoba is having our BCC. Regional specialty again this August in conjunction with the Manitoba Canine Association Show.
Other than that not much happening.
Boxer entries are very low at Manitoba dog shows right now.
That being said dog show entries are low in general so not just boxer entries I guess.
That's it for me
Sandra Beck - BC Interior/Yukon Directors AGM Report
I can’t believe a year has passed since my last AGM Directors report.
Several Specialties have come and gone since last June:
2013 Labour Day long weekend saw both Dogwood Boxer Club & Western Canada Boxer Club Specialties in Kamloops. It was a smokin’ hot weekend… after it rained on WCBC’s Fun MatchL… I could give you the results, but anyone who wanted to know already knowsJ. I was happy to see the Dogwood Club offer a Sanctioned Rally Trial (they are now half way to eligibility for Boxer Rally Trials!)… followed by a spur of the moment much needed correction obedience match.
2014 Easter long weekend was it’s usual whirlwind of activity in Chilliwack, Boxer Club of Canada Regional Show & Trials + Dogwood Show/Trial. Again those of you who want results already know. While the entry was small in numbers, the quality surely wasn’t lacking, nor was the fanfare… always a well organized/run show with attention to detail. I suppose here I must add that my effort to offer a last minute fundraising lecture needed to be postponed until next year, since the info didn’t come together it in time to appear in the premium, people didn’t know about the event until too late.
Lastly, I’m not sure if this is Cora’s zone or mine, forgive me if I am stepping out of my zone… I would like to welcome back Mary Jane & Harvey Werleman who became new ordinary members in Feb 2014, the minutes reflect that Grace Lewis also became a new ordinary member and I was extremely saddened to hear of her passing which I learned while ring stewarding for MaryJane in April. Mary Jane of course is Grace’s Daughter, and my heart goes out to her and Harvey. Grace and Mary Jane bred Boxers together for many years under the Kennel Name “Pengalli” and are not new to the BCC ie check the awards for 1996. I look forward to seeing a tribute to Grace in the WCBC show catalogue this fall. Rest well Grace, Pengalli Boxers are in the best of hands.
Thus ends my report,
Sandra Beck
