Old Business:
- Re 2012 National - From Monica - We need to decide if we will vote on her judges at this meeting or go to the trouble of sending out ballots
- Bernice: Isn't everyone supposed to get a vote on Judges?
- Mike: Yes for the National. It is getting quite cumbersome to get the ballots out and we get a very small return
- Norah: We are allowed to nominate judges as well as vote on them
- Mary: already nominated: Alberto Berrios to and for sweeps : Zona Grupe and Nancy Ingalls. On panel: Mrs. Geraldine Crandall, Calif. Mr. Edgar Bajona, On. Mr. Chris Neilsen, On.
- Discussion ensued
- Norah: Monica would prefer boxer Judges , not from the panel
- Mike: If anyone wishes to nominate a judge for the 2012 National in BC, send it in before the next meeting and make sure you have the bio info etc included as well as checking to see if the judge is willing and able to attend the show.
- Norah felt the nominations should go to Monica and she should make up the ballots
- Mike: We need the nominations before the next meeting. If anyone wants to nominate anyone, send it to Mary with a copy to Monika and it will be sorted out. Just make sure you have all the required info and the ok from the judge to nominate him/her
- Mary: I have no problem if Monica wants to do this. Please send nominations to Monica with all required info. If she requires my help I will be more than happy to do that.
- Bernice: While we are discussing the National, unless the rules have been changed and I haven't read about it. The Club holding the National is supposed to send the BCCI a Financial report on the show. Haven't seen one lately?
- Paul Dulong: Yes a report was submitted to the exec.
- Bernice: what about the members?
Secretary`s note: Specialty financial report comparisons are attached to these minutes.
New Business:
- We have to set up a Nomination Committee for the upcoming elections. Normally, the Past president is part of the committee. As Jenny may or may not run again, I have a conflict and am stepping down from the Committee.
- The Nomination Committee is normally made up of the VP, Past President and member(s) at large. Does anyone have any issue with the Committee being made up of the VP and member(s)?
- No issues recorded
- Mike: OK further to that - the ballots this year will be sent to an independent auditor where they will be tested for compliance with the Constitution and then they will go to the AGM to be counted. Any issues with that process? No issues recorded.
- Mike: Any volunteers to serve on the Nomination Committee?
- Sandra Beck & Mary Curl volunteered
- Sandra Beck: May the Dogwood Boxer club host the BCC National Obedience trial April 6 2012 in conjunction with the National show please
- Cindy Thomas: Does it need to go through the 30 day wait period or can we approve it tonight?
- Is this not Obedience added to a show already approved? if so can we not approve it tonight
- Cindy: If there is an approved Specialty then I say let's approve it tonight.
- Anne McDougall moved we approve this event
- Seconded by Cindy Thomas
- Motion Passed
- Further to above: Sandra: may I have permission to go ahead with an obed judge for 2012... working with 4 breed clubs to split costs... and taking to ballot would be problematic
- Mike: We are in new water here. I think we should use the KISS method and make it work. Obedience judges aren't even covered under the Constitution
- Mary: Given that entries might not be high I think the club involved should do what they need to do for the obed judge
- Cindy: Wanting to know that since the BCC is licensed to hold regular obedience would we be interested in becoming licensed to hold rally obedience?
- The consensus was yes
- Mike: what is required in order for the Club to be licenced?
- Cindy: I believe we need to do two sanction matches for rally obedience.
- Mary: If Cindy is willing to take on trying to get the matches I thin we should let her and whoever will help her
- Sandra Beck: I move that we begin the process of holding Rall-O trials
- Cindy Thomas: second
- Motion passed
- Mike: Last issue I have is judging at the Regional to be held with the Oakville & District Kennel Club in September this year. Christine can you add to this please
- Christine: I will update next month as I would like to talk to the Oakville show chair first.
- Mike: Just for everyone's info ref the Oakville Show this year. It will be held indoors at the Ancaster Fairground. Beautiful air conditioned building. Everything under one roof
