COMMITTEE REPORTS
Publicity No Report
Show Committee Anne McDougall
- Still some door prizes to get and Judges gifts, flowers to buy. 6 trailer reservations, things moving along nicely,
- Christine asked how many dinner reservations we guarantee. Paul answered – 60 we have 26 reservations so far.
BOXER EXTRAVAGANZA: - Mary Curl
- We do not seem to have enough registered for either the Doppler clinic or the Semen collection. Pre registration for the Doppler was April 24th. Is anyone here planning on attending that has not registered?
- We will have to check with Shirley to see if it will still happen
- We have 6 paid for the Doppler and 3 possible
- Anne noted: Shirley said yesterday that is they can get 15 he will come for one day
- Mary asked: Can we extend the preregistration date for a week?
- Mike: Let's extend it for another week and get the word out again to try to make it a go
- Mary: I will post to the Canadian show Dogs list - can anyone else post elsewhere?
- Discussion held re dopplers
- Mike: Norah - anything to report on the semen collection?
- Norah: Seems we have not had any response at all. We need 8 per day to make it happen
- Mike: When do you have to have a definite commitment?
- Norah: By mid month
- Mike: Thanks Mary can we make a broadcast on Yahoo and can anyone else broadcast it on any lists they are on to promote both these clinics?
- Paul Dulong: Anne ..can we extend the awards dinner deadline
- Anne: Yes to the 28th
- Mike: OK let's give both these clinics a last push and hope we can get the numbers up
- Mary: Item 2: Combined Catalogue As you know we have been given permission to have all three shows in one catalogue. A question has come up regarding the combined catalogue for the show weekend. Some people feel that the National should have its own catalogue not combined with the Saturday shows.
- Comments
- Norah: If it was a regional that would be fine however it is a National and as a standalone the catalogue should also stand alone
- Paul Wilcox: If it saves money, keep it with the other shows
- Norah: Surely as a National we will also sell the catalogue and recoup funds spent
- Christine: One suggestion-- have the national at the front of the catalogue and the other two shows after that. From a cost point we would sell more catalogues
- Anne: it is costly enough weekend without adding any more costs. I think we will sell more if they are combined
- Mike: I think the National is a prestigious event but I think the fact that we are having specialties with two other Boxer Clubs makes it even more prestigious
- Patti: Just a comment from someone who will be at the show simply to watch . . . from my point of view, I'd much rather have to pay for and deal with only one catalogue.
- More discussion ensued
- Mike asked if anyone else was against the combined catalogue: 2 against, 11 not against. This was not a vote just a call for opinion.
- Mike: OK we will leave this in the hands of the combined show committee. Thanks everyone
- Mary moved her report, accepted
- Mary: Just a note that we have ads in Dogs In Canada, Canine Review, Canuck Dogs & Best Dog in Canada for the Extravaganza
- Mary: We are extending the date for advertising in the catalogue to May 14th

Old Business: None
Good & Welfare – Lillian Wainwright – No report
New Business:
- The first item we have has to do with the number of colour choices that are on the CKC individual registration application forms - specifically the fact that there are in excess of 22 (23). They are misleading in some ways.
- Norah The colour codes should be brought in line with the standard, it does not contain 23 colours
- Jenny: Our breed standard addresses colour - breaks it down into the fawn & brindle with colour options listed.
- Jenny posted the colour section of the standard
- Norah: Perhaps a committee should be put together to bring this issue more in line with the standard
- Discussion on colours was held
- Mary: I think that with a committee in place members could send their suggestions and the committee could get back to the club with a list for us to see
- Norah, Eleanor & Mary volunteered for the committee
- Jenny: If you are interested in joining this committee please send me an email (cattonj@cogeco.ca) and we can strike the committee and hopefully have discussions in June & through the summer so that the committee can report back to the membership & Executive in September so that we can let the CKC know our feelings on the subject.
- Mary: We can set a time and date to get together to start discussions. Please all members send your thoughts to one of us on this
