BC:
I must tell you that not much is going on in the Boxer world out here in B.C. since the Nationals were held out here last April 2012 in conjunction with the Western Canada Boxer Club Specialty hosted by the Renaissance Dog Association.  The Boxer entries have been very small at our recent shows over the Summer on the Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Interior.  Really nothing else to report other than the Western Canada Boxer Club are in the process of organizing their next specialty for 2013.  Good luck to all at the shows.

Yours Sincerely,
Cora Verhulst

Northern Ontario:
2012-In Northern Ontario Region
We had a fantastic Regional in Orillia(Barrie Kennel Club) in Aug., 36 entries of some of the best boxers in Canada & US, had a great barbeque hosted by Northern Ontario Boxer Club after the Show, great day was had by all.(note) Jim Gillanders - Uppercut Boxers was back in the ring after a lengthy illness.

NB/PEI
I am sending my report as director of NB/PEI.  This year on August 19th we had our first booster in the Maritime provinces in what I have been told in a very long time.  We had a lot of fun for the people that wanted to participate with a hospitality table with lots of good munchies on it for everyone along with drinks supplies as well.  We had beautiful prizes donate from several people.  Let's  hope I don't forget anyone in my thanks.
Marjorie Ross made and donated all the prizes for BOB, BOS, BOW, WD, WB, AND BPIB.  Also we had donations from Global Pet Supplies of a lovely dog bed and items to put in each of our thank you bags that each entry received.

Home Hardware in Grand Bay, Scholtens in Grand Bay, Holly Swan for his delicious homemade maple syrup  that each of the winners received along with their prizes. Arlene Wood for donating three insulated bags, Kristi Wagg for a cash donation that went towards prizes, Sobeys for their lovely fruit and vegetable trays for the hospitality table, The Baking Lot and a personal gift donated from the Manager Lisa from Pet Corral.

We had an entry of 12 boxers in conformation and 2 boxers in Obedience and 2 boxers in Rally which we thought was a great entry for this area.  We also sold tickets on a beautiful basket that was won by Patty Kelly. Big congratulation Kelly on winning the basket and thank you for your support.

I would also like to thank Anne Craig and Tara Burt along with Marjorie Ross for helping me put this together.  We had great fun and plan to do another one next year and possible a Regional Specialty in the Maritimes for 2014 if this is approved.  I really don't know all the rules and how to apply for the specialty so if someone could help me out with this information I would greatly appreciate it.

A Good day of boxer fun was had by most. In total we raised $178.50 once expenses were taken out for the BCC.

Respectfully submitted

Kim Long - Regional Director NB/PEI

BC Interior & Yukon Directors AGM Report 2011 – 2012

First I’d like to welcome Ben & Shirley DeBoer and Crystal & Chase Davies to the BC Interior/Yukon. I hope to see the Deboers at the upcoming Vernon shows, and Crystal… do you know how far Alexis Creek is from the closest dog show?! –

June 2011 – Boxer Picnic
Monika Pinsker & Anita Hunter organized and ran a Boxer picnic in Port Coquitlam with games, raffle 50/50 draw and a BBQ, Peter Yeadon was the chef. While this is not in my “zone” I thought you all should know, and I’d like to thank BCC members Monika, Anita & Peter (and I believe Karen Knox was helping too) for their continued support of the breed via these wonderful events.

September 2011 – Boxer Specialty
The Dogwood Boxer Club held their annual Specialty Show & Obedience Trial in Kamloops. This is in my zone and I was there - Entries were about what could be expected (14 in the regular conformation classes & 5 in the obedience classes).

September 2011 – Rally-O Match
The Boxer Club of Canada held their first (of 2 required) CKC Sanctioned Rally-O matches, also in conjunction
with the Dogwood Specialty. The helpers, who had never organized nor ran a rally match (myself included) did an awesome job, and a good time was has by all! (and the match covered it’s costs - )

April 2012 – BCC National
Oh boy, where to start… this was one busy weekend!! 4 all-breed shows, 3 Boxer Specialty Shows (Boxer Club of Canada 44 regular entries, Dogwood Boxer Club 36 regular entries, Western Canada Boxer Club 34 regular entries) and 2 Boxer Obedience Trials. I’ll start with the top 4 National wins:
BISS - Can CH Hi-Tech The King of Sherry Shoot JP (Handled by BCC member Cheryl Jennings)
BOS – Can/Am CH Dorado’s Said In Silver (co-owned by BCC member Karen Knox)
BW – Dorado’s High Hope of Essence (a Sr Pup co-owned by BCC Member Karen Knox)
BP – Jestic N Toprank’s British Sterling (I believe this should also be CH as she cleaned up the day before at the Dogwood Specialty and moved up for the BCC National – owned by BCC member Shelly Dueck)

The inaugural National Obedience Trial hosted by the Dogwood Boxer Club, had a small but respectable entry; 1 pre-novice, 1 novice intermediate, and 2 utility. Only one pass, from the pre-novice class: CH Boxjoy’s Diamond (bred by BCC member Corry van der Ende, actually the 2 utility entries were also bred by Corry -) In the name of fairness, the novice intermediate entry was also bred by a BCC member Karen Deschambault and owned by BCC member – me -. And just in case you haven’t heard enough about the Trial, I’ve included a photo of all the entrants, a picture is worth 1000 words.

OK that’s all I have for the results, but boy what a show! Our very own President Dave Gilmour was kept very busy  ring stewarding for all 3 specialties plus judging numerous sweeps, hope you finally got off your feet when you got home Dave.

Do you know who really knows how to accent the “Special” in Specialty?… Monika Pinsker does. From the banners, the fabulous prizes, the brilliant trophies, to the catalogue (who knew the ads would be in full colour, truly a keepsake) a spectacular presentation! Monika also organized a BCC silent auction, which raised $201 (btw Paul & Mary your wine basket brought in $32 of those dollars, possibly the most active bidding on that item). I personally walked away with a bundle of treasures for a pittance, I felt like a pirate. I do believe that the money was all donated
to the “Harley” fund.

Thank you to Monika and her Renaissance Dog Association who hosted (or co-located?) the 2012 National, WELL DONE!

Thus completes my first AGM Directors report. If I’ve missed anything, I apologize and look forward to having it brought to my attention. To those of you in the BC Interior/Yukon please know that, while I don’t always have the time to travel to shows, I do always have time to answer e-mails and phone calls. Please feel welcome to contact me on any boxer related items.

Happy Trials,
Sandra Beck
