Minutes of the General Meeting held on Monday October 4th , 2010
The meeting was called to order at approx. 8:05 p.m. - on-line moderator. – Past President: Mike Catton

Minutes: Mike asked if there were any issues with the minutes of the June Regular  meeting.   Moved by Bernice Langley, Paul Dulong seconded - Minutes accepted as submitted

Treasurer’s Report - Paul Dulong

  • Treasurer's Report at Sep 30'10    - Receipts:  Awards  32.00........   Disbursements: CKC Fees (120.15),  Chatroom Fee  (136.70),  G/W (45.19),  Bank Fees  (3.00),      leaving a closing Cash Balance of  $ 4,160.92 .......
  • Special Note:  Your Membership Renewal for 2011 is now due.   Please refer to the website for your renewal form.   Membership fees and payment options remain the same as 2010.   You will be receiving an Email notice shortly

Show Committee From Mary - Anne May have problems attending - computer problems

  • the Sweeps judge for 2011 National is Virginia Shames

Programme:

Trophy Committee:  

  • From Norah - Do we have a trophy chairperson, last meeting it appeared we did not.
  • Mike: do we have anyone who is interested in being the trophy chair?

Membership:

  • Christine: no objections rec'd  - George & Jane Holicka new probationary members. 
  • New ordinary members Jennifer Bitner & Lee & Mary Jane Nowak
  • Mike asked if Christine was going to continue as membership Chair
  • Christine: Patti Gilmour has offered to take over as membership chair
  • Mike: Thanks for your service as Membership Chair and welcome to Patti as the new Membership Chair

Discipline Committee: No Report
Obedience Committee:  

  • Marta: I don't have anything, but Lillian may have something to report
  • Lillian: the CKC  - after much discussion - have decided that the BCC cannot hold an obedience trial in conjunction with the Oak. Kennel club and the reg. next Sept.  The ob. trials have to be 160 kms apart
  • Marta: I am so confused by their decision.  The Dogwood Boxer Club has held a speciality trial in conjunction with the Vernon Kennel Club shows.  And at AKC in Calgary, there are usually a few speciality trials going on along with the all breed trials.  What Lillian was told makes no sense.
  • Mary: Perhaps you need to contact the Dogwood Boxer Club to see how they handled it
  • Marta: Now that the BCC is authorized to hold a licensed obedience trial, we have to do so within 3 years or we have to start all over again.
  • Shirley B: Can we have Obed in conjunction with the Oshawa specialty?
  • Discussion regarding the merits of outdoor & indoor Obed and how it could work with judges, stewards, equipment etc. and how many dogs you would need to break even.
  • Mike: OK can we leave this now with the understanding that Dogwood will be contacted to see how they got around the CKC issue.
  • Marta: I will discuss more with Sandra and Lillian

Fund Raising Committee:

  • Mary : As we have no corporate sponsor for the calendar we will not be doing it this year.
  • Mike: Do we have any other fund raising initiative on the go
  • Mary: possibly a book sale
  • Questions were asked regarding the amount of sponsorship needed etc..  Mary also noted that there were a couple of other issues and no time to resolve them for this year.

New Business:  

  • Shirley Bell reported: NOBC (Northern Ontario Boxer Club) is applying to CKC to hold their Specialty June 4/11 at HI Oshawa, this is the day before BCC.  It is out of our zone....but I have approval from northern rep and eastern rep
  • I have also contacted Dr Bras Rivas regarding a echo heart clinic he has responded that he is available and would love to come. 
  • Norah: I am also checking on a semen collection too be done at the BCC Specialty
  • Norah: Booster for Barry Green - He said he emailed Paul Dulong in error and Paul said he would forward to Mary
  • Mike: Is this the one that is already mentioned in the premium list?
  • Norah: Yes
  • Mike: OK.  We have a situation where a booster is mentioned in a premium list but it hasn't been voted on and granted by the membership.  Does anyone have any objection to this booster?
  • Sandra: at this point we would look like mud, so best to go ahead, and talk with Barry
  • Mary: I have already spoken with Barry regarding this.
  • Mike: Just a reminder to everyone that we have procedures for the National, Regionals and Boosters.  Please make sure you are aware of the procedures and follow them when requesting one of these events
  • Vote for Booster – Accepted
  • Norah: Barry also mentioned that a check in the amount of 251.25 is being forwarded to the BCC from the regional held at Hochelaga in May of 2010.
  • Paul: I will issue a cheque to Barry when this one is received.

The amount of yearly dues will be decided each year at the Annual General Meeting. Members joining the Club at or after the September meeting, and who have paid the required dues for the current year, will be considered paid up members for the upcoming year.

Members whose fees have not been received by January 1st shall be considered Non-Active Members and must pay a fine/penalty of $10.00 and complete the Renewal form in order to become an Active Member... The Renewal form must be received by the Treasurer no later than Jan 31st of the incoming year. If the Renewal Form and fine/penalty are not received by the Treasurer by January 31st, the membership will be considered lapsed and the member must re-apply to join the Club.
