Proposal for THE Boxer
Club of Canada Regional Specialty for 2012 On behalf of the Oakville and District Kennel Club (ODKC)
o
I
would like to propose the BCC hold the 2012 Regional Special in conjunction
with our 2012 All breed show.
A formal application will be submitted prior to our next meeting.
The ODKC show will be
held at the Ancaster Fairgrounds September 7, 8 & 9, 2012. The Fairgrounds
offer the following; -plenty of free parking -RV parking with water/ hydro
reasonable cost -fully air conditioned building -rings and grooming indoors.
The
BCC could use one of our Judges or use their own Judge. Our
Judges for 2012 (pending CKC approval) Rafael Desantigo, Roberto Velo-Picez,
Cheryl Meyers-Egerton. We will also
have a couple of Judges working on permits.
Our show
sponsor is Ren’s Pet Depot and RC was at
our show this past weekend. The fairgrounds have rental banquet/meeting rooms
upstairs. A room that would accommodate
up to 80 people could be rented by the BCC for 200.00 +HST. This would be large enough to hold the AGM
and Awards Dinner. The catering staff
quoted reasonable price per person for dinner (coffee/tea, salad, chicken or
beef, veggies & desert). Dinner
details could be finalized by the BCC show chair. This same cater provided meals for our Judges
this past weekend and sold food to spectators/exhibitors. We received positive feedback. Any member attending the dinner and not
camping could leave crated dogs in the grooming area while attending the dinner
and AGM. Several pet friendly hotels are
in the area.
ODKC held two limited entry shows Friday and
one show Saturday and Sunday. If approved by the CKC, our intention is 4 shows
again next year. BCC members would have
a chance at 5 sets of points. The BCC
needs to move our show with an all breed show to survive financially.
Several BCC members attended the ODKC show
this past weekend and could provide comment.
Best regards, Christine Burton President Oakville and District Kennel Club
·
Application for
Regional Specialty - Signed app included - This Club has requested that the
ODKC proposal be considered first.
o
To
the Executive of the Boxer Club of Canada.
On behalf of the Boxer Club of Central Ontario,,
I wish to request a Boxer Club of Canada
Regional Specialty Show to be held in Milton, Aug 11th, 2012 in conjunction with our show which will be on
August 10th. Both shows are being held in conjunction with the Kilbride &
District Kennel Club, all breed conformation show (August 10, 11 & 12,
2012).
Also confirmed is the Working & Herding
Club of Southern Ontario's 2012 specialty which will be held on Sunday, August
12th.
Also,
we request a booster for the the Sunday all-breed show. This means that Boxers will have an
opportunity for 6 sets of points in three days, three of which are Boxer
focused specialties!
The Milton show is on the Summer circuit and
does attract a large entry. We hope
you will join us.
Sincerely,
Mary Dulong Vice President, Boxr Club of Central Ontario
·
Request for BCCI
Booster from Monica Pinsker at Auld Lang Syne Dog Association (all breed club)
in Dec 2012
o
Request approved
·
Discussion
o
Dave asked if anyone had a
questions
o
Mary: I think these
proposals should go to a show committee and then to the executive to see what
is viable for our show
o
Anne: We do need to go with
an all breed show to survive
o
Mary: From what I
understand the Oakville show has moved to a new location in Ancaster and it is
a good one
o
Anne: but they don't have
near the entry that Kilbride did
o
Clarification: The Oakville Club is
asking the BCCI to hold their 2012 Regional with them. BCCO is just asking for A Regional (not THE
Regional)
o
Christine: Oakville is offer the
club an opportunity to hold the show on our grounds, free and if BCC uses one
of our Judges the club will not have to pay for the Judge
o
Mary: With the Oakville
Club we would not have a conflict with Royal Canin
·
Motion: Mary: I move the regional requests be tabled
until evaluated by either show committee or executive
·
Christine: I think they should be
evaluated by both, only because the treasurer should have input
·
Mary: I modify my motion to read: I move the regional
requests be tabled until evaluated by the show committee and the executive.
·
Seconded by Bill
Frankland
·
Motion Carried - report accepted
Old Business: None
Good & Welfare Lillian
·
Christine: Not sure if everyone
heard Barbara Hunter passed away last week.
No service as per her request
·
Good & Welfare
from Lillian who is unable to attend due to storms
o
Norah McGriskin - sent a get well card
and a dish planter arrangement
o
Dara Murphy - sent a sympathy card on
passing of her father Pat Murphy.. hope Paul got the message - a donation to
Pet Trust in his memory. He was an avid
animal lover, and attended all the dog shows that Dara went to -- including the
ABC..
·
Dave: Also a sad note
Liilian’s Mother passed away about two weeks ago and a donation to pet trust
was made by the BCC
New Business:
·
Dave: I would like
thank Anne at this time for all her hard work
·
Dave: The first topic is we need to get a show secretary/chair in place
o
Mary: Until we do we can
have a committee comprised of Trophy chair, Statistics people etc. I think that
the show committee should be comprised of specific people to do specific jobs
that the show chair can be in charge of. If there are specific jobs then the
show Chair would not have to do as much and perhaps we could get someone to
head the committee. Seeing that there
are not that many people here hopefully when the minutes go out others will
think about it
o
Jenny offered to be on the
committee until we can get a Show Chair
o
Dave: Good thought Mary.
Also if anybody can think of anyone that we should approach about this just let
any of us on the executive know
o
Patti: How many people do you
think the committee should have, besides the Show Chair and Trophy Chair?
o
Discussion ensued
regarding this
§ Jenny: It might be best to actually break down what jobs have
to be done, and if any could be combined ( i.e. what has to be done ahead of
time and what has to be done on the day). This should probably give you a good
idea of how many people you need.
§ Mary: I also think that the Show chair does not necessarily
have to be local as long as there is a delegate on the day to oversee
everything
§ Christine & Jenny felt the Show Chair should be there the
day of the show
§ Mary: As long as the committee is in sync and the delegate
for the day is good it could work. Just a thought as no one local seems
interested and there are several members who do know how it works.
§ Jenny: maybe if the criteria is set down and the
jobs are divided people may step up - one can only hope
§ Dave: I think this is food for thought at the next executive
meeting
·
Dave: Next topic for
discussion is fund raising
o
If we want to keep
having shows we have to start raising some extra funds
o
No
one has volunteered to Fundraising Chair
o
PLEASE PEOPLE WE NEED
A FUNDRAISING CHAIR.
·
Jenny Catton moved to
adjourn, Cindy Thomas seconded. Meeting closed
at 9:39 p.m.
