COMMITTEE REPORTS
Show Committee: Anne McDougall
- Anne: just all went well, the weather was great as was the BBQ, it was an effort put forth by many as one person cannot do it alone but it is time for someone else to do it. I will keep the trophies if no one else wants it. I have done this for 6 or 7 years now time for other ideas
- Paul Wilcox: A big round of applause for Anne
- Dave: Thank you very much for all your hard work Anne
- Anne: I would also like to thank our Judge for doing a great job, thanks Judge Jack
- Jack: It was nice to see so many Champions in the ring at one time
Publicity: – Rick Tarringtron
- Nothing really to report at this time, I am still waiting for approval or denial of the hitch guards...
- Dave: Thx Rick I will get back to you on that
Trophy Committee: Anne
- Anne: I have enough for next year, a couple left from this year and some that were donated from an estate.
Out of sequence Disscussion:
- Anne: has next year’s location been decided yet - the regional
- Dave: As far as I know the only proposal we have on the table is Erie Shore's
- Mary: Erie Shore gave us a very good offer that works out to 13 to 15 per dog
- Christine: I think the one point is our sponsorship with RC
- Dave: We will have to check with them right away. Mary how much do get for regionals from RC
- For the BCC run regional we usually get $500 but we still have to renegotiate with them for the contract
- Christine: I think that was the hitch last time Erie Shores was proposed. That and lack of accommodations
- Jenny: that is exactly correct Christien - the people had to stay in residences if I recall correctly
- Mary: Unfortunately no one else has come with an alternative
- Anne: I find it hard to believe that in that area there is a shortage of motels/hotels, maybe not within 5 minutes but certainly 20 or 30 minutes
- Christine: Something that has to be looked into. The 2 reasons the site was turned down was lack of accomodations and RC was not allowed on the site. They would have to hand out prizes in the parking lot
- Anne: they had permission to be there for the specialty
- Mary: Erie Shores was to check into that. Can you ask them Anne.
- More discussion...
- Jack: Would you consider asking Barrie K.C. they had great grounds losts of parking and motels. I know that they would welcome you with open arms
- Mary: Unless we have some ideas presented by the members with rebate info etc. to choose from we could be in a position of not having a BCC run Regional next year. Barrie is good but we need someone to organize as well
- Dave: You are right Mary we need a show chair as Anne is no longer in that position
- Anne: I am more than willing to help whoever takes it. I want to be able to show my dogs and you can't if you are showchair
- Dave: Fair enough Anne
- Jack: I would also help in any way that I could
- Discussion followed on the possibility of having a show chair in name only or using the All Breed club’s Show chair for paperwork.
- Dave: Ok it is obvious we need to get a show committe together so we will put a call out for volunteers and hopefully have something in place for next meeting
- Jack: I would be willing to work on the show committee
Membership: Patti
- Over the summer there were a couple of inquiries regarding membership however no applications were actually submitted. There's been a few address updates received as well.
- In October, the following probationary members from Ontario will become regular members: Leah Quiring, and Melissa and Mark Mathers. If anyone has any concerns, please let me know.
- Also, I had sent two proposed changes regarding membership probationary status to the executive for consideration that I will now present to the membership for discussion as it will require a revision to The Boxer Club of Canada Constitution. We are only discussing this now, not voting on it.
- 1) The first change is that it become mandatory for probationary members to attend a minimum of four on-line meetings during the year in which they are probationary members.
- 2) The second change is that it become mandatory for probationary members to actively volunteer with at least one club committee (e.g. fundraising, show, publicity, obedience, special service award
- Paul Wilcox: maybe you should make mandatory meetings for all members by the looks of this months turnout
- Dave: Does anyone have any comments or questions about Patti's proposal
- Sandra: I wholeheartedly agree with #1
- Francine: I like both of them it gives the new members a chance to learn something, and not just sit back and watch
- Dave: We were looking at these being two seperate initiatives. The first goal is to get them to the meetings
- Anne: me too, the only way to find out how an organization works is to take part.
- Mary: It might help weed out those who just want to brag that they belong to the National CLub but don't do anything
- Karen: It would help new members learn
- Dave: One can hope that once their probationary status is over they will continue to attend and volunteer
- Paul Wilcox: There are members who don't know what BCCI stands for
- Patti: Thanks everybody for the support on the proposal
Discipline Committee: Frank Rouse (Not in attendance) –
Obedience Committee: Marta Nettelfield
- Mary - From Cindy: we are licensed to hold Rally Obedience. Haven't seen anyone take advantage of that yet and I have to check to see how long we have to hold one before we have to start again having sanction matches.
- Sandra Beck: 2014 BC regional will have rally & obed!!
- Mary: J
Fund Raising Committee: .
- Dave: Mike is working on a plan to raffle a weathervane off. Is there anything you would like to add Mike
- Mike: It is based on a raffle - a deck of cards. Each person buys a card. When all cards are gone, the draw is held. Max 52 entries in the draw. Prize is a Michael Park weathervane - value 700.00 US The weather vane (dog) is 22 inches long, hand carved and will be painted to your dog. The weather vane does not have to be mounted on your roof. It can be ground mounted
- Anne: How much is a CARD
- Mike: $25
- Jack: When do we start? I am ready
- Dave: When will the raffle be up and running Mike
- Mike: We will be starting very shortly, Jack Mary and I are working on the web presence
- Mike: Draw will be made by an uninterested person with witnesses. Use of proceeds still has to be determined bu it will be known prior to the start of the raffle
- Paul Wilcox: Who pays for shipping
- Mike: Whoever wins the prize will get it - only pays the 25.00 entry ticket
- Mike: There will be a minimum number of tickets to be sold - if the minimum isn't met, the raffle will not go ahead. Number to be determined but, again, it wil all be spelled out when the raffle starts
Special Service Award: Debbie – No report
Good and Welfare: Lillian – No report

- Mary: Yes
- Mary: RRCD letter to CKC If you didn’t read the letter sent to the CKC from the RRCD group go to Members Only section (Click here if reading online http://tinyurl.com/ppdfg5l
- Attached to minutes if you get paper copies)
- This letter will be brought up at the CKC meeting Sept 13th by Executive Director of CKC: Lance Novak
- Volunteers needed to print off and hand out PR materials at shows as well as working to move the merchandise for fundraising. If we want to be successful in retaining our rights then it is important that people get out there to promote and educate. We have had great representation in the Maritimes (thank you so much Louise Giffen!) but it has come to our attention that other provinces are still not very aware of what we are trying to accomplish. Who can step up and do a show or two for their breed and the other docked/cropped breeds that we are fighting for?
- For more information go to the RRCD Facebook site. There is a public one and a members only one. Consider joining to help with this issue or contact Jean Berghuijs at jean@nothingtohide.com
